Xerox, Cisco team on print, cloud services
Xerox and Cisco on Monday will form an alliance to bring print management and cloud IT outsourcing the networking giant's customers.
The deal is largely a channel partnership. Xerox will offer its print and IT management services to Cisco's Borderless Network effort. The companies plan to launch the partnership through channel partners in the third quarter.
Under the arrangement, Cisco and Xerox will:
- Embed print and IT management into Cisco networks and collaborate on software to monitor cloud, mobile and print data and applications.
- Build Xerox IT outsourcing services on Cisco's Unified Computing System and Vblock infrastructure. The services, including infrastructure as a service and public and private cloud consulting, are delivered through Xerox's ACS unit.
- Mobile printing via Cisco's virtual desktops and its Cius tablets.
The Cisco partnership comes a day ahead of Xerox's investor conference. Xerox has done a nice job of integrating ACS and the company remains relatively upbeat on the prospects to land government services deals. On the core printer business, Xerox launched a series of solid ink multifunction printers for the enterprise.
Last month, Xerox reported net income of $334 million, or 19 cents a share, on revenue of $5.46 billion. Non-GAAP earnings of 23 cents a share topped estimates. Revenue was a bit light.
