Lior Adler and Vardit Adler of Israel have named their daughter Like, after the Facebook feature.

Lior Adler and his wife Vardit Adler, who live in the town of Hod Hasharon, Israel, wanted an original name for their newborn daughter. They sure found one. The parents were inspired by Facebook, and decided to name her "Like."

"We named her Like because it's modern and innovative," the father told the Israeli newspaper Maariv. "I checked that the name does not exist elsewhere in the country, that was the main condition for me. In our opinion it's the modern equivalent of the name Ahava [Love]. It's just my way of saying to my fantastic daughter, 'love.'"

Like's parents lifted the name from the popular feature on the social network, which allows Facebook users to click on a Like button to show they like a status update, a comment, a link, a picture, or pretty much any other piece of content on the Internet posted by other users. Like has two sisters who also have unusual names: one is called Pie – after the English food – and the other is called Vash – Hebrew for Honey.

As you might expect, Like was quickly announced to friends and family on Facebook. "When I posted her picture and name on Facebook I got 40 Likes," the father told Maariv. "Considering that I have only a little more than 100 friends on the network that's a lot."

Three months ago, we learned that an Egyptian father had names his daughter "Facebook". If I had to choose, I think I like Like more than I like Facebook.
