If you need 3D content 24/7, then prepare yourself for 3net, which is headed to a DirecTV near you this weekend.

And yes, that is only to DirecTV, at least for now. Obviously you'll also need a 3D TV.

The 3D channel was announced in early last year as a collaboration amongst Discovery, Sony and Imax. Now the launch day (Sunday, February 13) is almost upon us. One might have wondered at this time last year whether or not this channel would even be relevant or at least be able to compete with ESPN's 3D channel. I think it's safe to say that 3D content is here to stay (at least for now), and ESPN doesn't have this market cornered.

Programming will begin at 8:00 PM ET on DirecTV channel 107 with a couple of one-hour original programs, China Revealed and Forgotten Planet. Nature and wildlife content actually seem like they belongs in 3D...until the network starts showing large bugs in three dimensions. I don't even need to see those in real life.

Will you tune in?
