Acer has several netbook announcements today, but the one that has everyone buzzing about is the super cheap Aspire One AOD255 that weighs only 2.2 pounds.

Available in four hues (red, black, brown and aquamarine), buyers have quite a choice when it comes to the AOD255's processor. But here's what either version of the 1-inch thin netbook will include:

  • 10.1-inch CrystalBrite LED-backlit display
  • Windows 7 Starter
  • Microsoft Office Starter 2010
  • Integrated Intel graphics
  • 1GB of DDR3 memory
  • 250GB hard drive
  • 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi
  • Ethernet
  • 1.3-megapixel HD webcam
  • Built-in microphone
  • 93%-sized keyboard
  • Battery life: Up to eight hours

Acer has also updated its 10.1-inch AO521 and 11.6-inch AO721 netbooks with AMD Athlon II Neo K125 processors and ATI Radeon HD 4225 graphics.

Pricing for the Aspire One AOD255 starts at $269.99 for the single-core Atom N450 version, and the cost jumps to $329.99 for the dual-core Atom N550 processors. If the AO521 or the AO721 netbooks piqued your interest, those will retail for $349.99 and $429.99 respectively. All three netbooks will be available in the U.S. by the end of October.
