It may be Back-to-School season where most new products have the dorm room rather than the board room in mind, but Lenovo has clearly been thinking about the needs of small to medium-sized businesses with the launch of a pair of updated ThinkPad Edge laptops, and a ThinkVision mobile monitor this morning.

Both ThinkPad Edge laptops feature the AMD 'Llano ' A-Series Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) that is powerful enough to render HD content, with up to 8 GB RAM and a 750 GB hard drive, an internal DVD burner, a 4-1 media card reader, a chic-let keyboard that is spill-resistant, as well as a HDMI-out and powered USB port. You can opt for a fingerprint reader to bring added security to logging in and out of these laptops, and choose between a 14" (E425, pictured above) or a 15.6" (E525, see below) display that is available in an anti-glare or glossy finish. The E425 and E525 are approximately 13 percent slimmer than previous ThinkEdge laptops according to the press release, and comes in either heatwave red or midnight black.

Lenovo is also aware that when these professionals make site visits, they don't always have the benefit of a conference room projector to show their slides, so it is also launching a 14" widescreen ThinkVision mobile monitor to meet this need. Like a large digital photo frame, the LT1421 Wide monitor can stand on its own while it plugs into a USB port on a computer. At two-pounds and one centimeter thick at its thinnest, the mobile monitor is portable enough to slide into the same bag as the ThinkPad Edge laptops, and includes a screen cover to protect the 14" of real estate.

Pricing for both ThinkPad Edge laptops start at $549, while the ThinkVision monitor will retail for $219.99; all three products will be available from Lenovo's website and business partners later this month.
