NEC has introduced its latest mobile creation: the Android-based LifeTouch tablet terminal.

Dubbed as a "cloud communicator," the LifeTouch is caught somewhere between being a tablet PC and a mobile phone. Beyond that (and even some promo photos), it's hard to tell what the LifeTouch is exactly.

NEC poses the LifeTouch as ideal for business-minded ventures like healthcare services and retail, but even something more personal like an e-book reader.

As far as specs go, details are minimal. The 0.8-ounce device sports a 7-inch LCD touch screen that is also pen operable, and the storage space can be expanded thanks to the microSD card slot.

The NEC LifeTouch will be released in Japan by the end of this month. Pricing hasn't been revealed yet, and no word on a U.S. launch plan either.
