With spring underway and the hot summer months just a little bit away, it's difficult to think about the holiday season already.

Naturally, tech companies always have this profitable time on their minds, and it looks like Nintendo might be gearing up and releasing the new 3DS handheld console system in the United Kingdom this fall. Excuse me, autumn.

Nintendo released a teaser last month, which stated that this 3D-ready gaming system would be ready for launch in March 2011. That could still hold true, at least for North American audiences. It's sad, but maybe true.

However, "UK industry sources" are saying the platform will be announced at E3 in June (confirmed) and ready for an October launch - bumping up the release by a whole six months. That would be the perfect launch moment as they'd be thrown into the mix just in time for the holiday shopping season.

But It's not crystal clear if that is just for the UK and the rest of Europe, or a global launch. But a lot of times, gadgets do get released in Europe first, and us Yanks might just have to sit back and wait (and perhaps cry a little).
