While Samsung's first smartphone running on the signature bada platform, the Wave (S8500), is still making the release rounds, there are now two more bada-based mobile devices on the way.

Samsung have debuted the Wave 2 (S5250, pictured right) and Wave 2 Pro (S5330, pictured above) at CommunicAsia 2010. Both of the smartphones are fairly similar, boasting:

  • 3.2-inch TFT LCD screens
  • Bluetooth v2.1
  • Wi-Fi
  • GPS
  • 80MB of on-board memory
  • microSD slot (up to 16GB)
  • 3-megapixel camera/camcorder
  • 3.5mm headphones jack

Unfortunately, it looks like neither of them include 3G as they are only quad-band, GPRS/EDGE-supporting devices.

The most major difference is obvious: the Wave 2 Pro is a slider phone with a full QWERTY keyboard. Otherwise, they're another pair of smartphones dedicated to social networking (Facebook and Twitter will be pre-installed) and other various apps to be found in the Samsung Apps store.

Available in a trio of shades with overly fancy names (metallic black, pearl white and romantic pink), both of the new Samsung smartphones will be launched in August, starting in Russia and Southeast Asia. Pricing hasn't been announced yet.
