There's another new set-top box almost on the market as ViewSonic has introduced NexTV VMP75 digital media player, which streams from Netflix as well as connects to social networking sites and Internet radio stations.

Netflix is quickly becoming accessible from almost every tech medium, so it's no surprise that users of the VMP75 shouldn't have any trouble either. Yet while Full HD 1080p playback is the ceiling on the VMP75, note that titles available in HD on Netflix will instantly stream in 720p, and most are displayed in standard definition.

Other Internet streaming services that can be accessed directly include YouTube, Live365.com and ShoutCast.Radio. And if there weren't enough ways to already log into them, users can head straight to Facebook and Flickr as well. Probably the most intriguing social networking site to visit with this box on an HDTV would be Flickr. Talk about one enormous and crisp digital photo frame.

Connectivity and extensive support is key on this machine. Besides connecting to the Internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, users can hook up portable storage devices, computers and other media sources through the USB, eSATA, HDMI, Composite and S/PDIF ports.

The VMP75 supports just about every important audio, photo and video (including subtitles) file type there is, but double check the product page before purchase if you're thinking of displaying something obscure.

The ViewSonic VMP75 is available for pre-order now, starting at $129.99.
