You might remember that when Apple finally confirmed to the world that its tablet-based iPhone on steroids would be called the iPad, that it was noted that the iPad trademark didn't belong to Apple but to Fujitsu. Well, just in time for the launch Apple now owns the iPad trademark:

The original trademark was filed by Fujitsu in March of 2003. Even Apple's press release confirming ore-order availability of the iPad made it clear the company didn't yet own the trademark:

© 2010 Apple Inc. All rights reserved. Apple, the Apple logo, Mac, Mac OS, Macintosh, Multi-Touch, iPhone, iPod touch, iTunes and Apple Store are trademarks of Apple. Other company and product names may be trademarks of their respective owners.

You might remember that initially Apple didn't own the iPhone trademark either, something which resulted in a squabble between the Cupertino giant and Cisco.
