Apple iPad event definitely March 7th--new iPad VERY likely

New iPad should be announced March 7th. Now we wait to see if it's an upgraded iPad or a completely new form factor

Earlier this week I wrote about the 6 rumored features of the iPad 3. I also mentioned that Apple was expected to unveil the iPad 3 on March 7th. Well, Apple has now officially confirmed the event.

The event will take place March 7th in San Francisco, at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts at 10 a.m. PT. As always, the invite itself is being dissected, with early comments stating that it's obviously a higher-resolution display, and that it might even be missing a home button, which would mean a drastic hardware redesign. See below and start guessing for yourself.

What is clear is that Apple is teasing us big time about it being around the iPad, with the company saying the following in the invite:

"We have something you really have to see. And touch."

I'm not going to analyze the above photo too much, since it could also just be some really nice renders, and not even an actual photo of the device. I will say this, though. If you'd like to try to sell your iPad 2 to clear some money up in time for the March 7th announcement, you better get to eBay fast. The prices are still holding but soon enough they'll stop dropping, especially with BestBuy.com selling them for $449.99.

I'm still hopeful that we'll see the 8-inch, since then we'll hopefully see even more innovation in the iPad, and not just what we're expecting to see as an upgrade to the iPad 2.

Are you going to buy the new iPad 3 if it comes with even some of the rumored features?
