Compaq, IBM map the Internet

Scientists from IBM Research, Compaq Corporate Research Labs and AltaVista have released a "map" of the Internet

The study, which examined more than 600 million pages, determined that four "regions" of the Web account for around 90 percent of all content.

The companies said the study will help designers better navigate through the Web. The formal report will be released at the International World Wide Web Conference in Amsterdam later this week.
