Over half of hotel room bookings are cheaper on line, with web users saving up to £12.50 per booking, according to a new study by KPMG.

The Hotels and the Internet 2001 report claims that the hotel industry's web usage has greatly improved over the past two years, with 90 per cent of leading hotel chains now offering end-to-end website bookings. In comparison, the 1999 survey revealed that customers were often quoted the most expensive rooms online and were often unable to confirm their bookings online.
