Already announced in the US, the Netopia ISDN Modem 612 ($400) reaches the faster speed though using a more efficient compression algorithm and double-speed serial port, according to Farallon. The product also comes with a spare jack for connecting a second analogue device. A Macintosh model, the 614, is also available.

Both models will come to the UK in 1997, according to Margaret Bruinsma, Farallon direct marketing manager. Bruinsma declined to comment further.

Farallon can be contacted by telephone on 0181-758 7546.
