One of the biggest deterrents in switching fixed broadband internet service providers (ISPs) is just how long you have to go without internet. Hopefully, it will soon be a thing of the past.

iiNet yesterday announced that it had cut down the internet downtime from weeks to just hours. According to Telstra, this is a feature that should be available to all ISPs now. And it's definitely something that we will see on the National Broadband Network (NBN), because NBN Co has previously indicated that the time to get connected could be cut down to just minutes.

Just as with number porting for mobile services, making it simpler to switch home internet providers can only be good for competition in the industry, not to mention for products and services innovation.

Full Spectrum delivers you all the latest NBN news, and keeps you up to date with the hustle and bustle of the telco industry.
