Customer service software vendor Siebel is tipped to be the next technology company to announce jobs cuts as it closes its online store.

As the redundancy season continues, Siebel is expected to drop 20 per cent of its 7,389 strong workforce and close online subsidiary sales.com. Reports in Silicon Valley newspaper the San Jose Mercury predict the announcement will be made to coincide with the release of its fourth quarter results on Wednesday afternoon. The news comes only a day after Ericsson announced it will cut 6,000 jobs. Cisco is to axe 8,500 people and Oracle will lose two per cent of its workforce.
