MobileTechRoundup show #86, Live from Vegas
James, Kevin, and I are all in Vegas so we thought it would be good to try to get together and record a show with some of our thoughts on CES. We also had an unexpected guest host on MobileTechRoundup show #86 that required a bit of editing to make sure we didn't get kicked off iTunes. We did chat about the VERY cool Origami Experience, OQO Model 02, Toshiba's new UWB technology in use, and a bit more. We'll cover the iPhone in the next show since we were recording in a public setting at the Bloghaus, but we think you will have fun with this show.
ActiveWords and PenCommander enhance the UMPC experience
Handwriting on your display can be a bit tedious at first, but with amazing utilities like ActiveWord and PenCommander you can insert text, launch applications, visit websites, and more with a simple pen stroke. At least one of these applications should be loaded on your UMPC or Tablet PC to make you more productive.
Orb MyCasting now available for the Nokia N800
I have been playing with the Nokia N800 for a couple of weeks and as you will hear soon on MobileTechRoundup podcast #97 James and I are really having a blast with this fun device. Nokia just announced another application that is officially available now for free that continues to extend your media content to the N800 and make it an even more powerful mobile browsing device. The new Orb MyCasting application allows you to access all your digital media (photos, videos, music and TV) that you have stored on a PC connected to the internet with Orb running in the background. I will have to fire up Orb and my TV Tuner card again on my home PC so I can access my media content on the road with the N800. The N800 Orb MyCasting application also allows you to use Orb's Digital Video Record funtionality to remotely record TV programs to your desktop PC and then later play back the video content on the N800.
MobileTechRoundup show #87
Our guest host from last week at CES is not back this week, but we did wrap up our thoughts on our trips to Vegas during MobileTechRoundup show #87. There has been quite a bit of talk about the Nokia N800 and a few may be on the way to the MoTR crew shortly. James, Kevin, and I also spent a bit talking about the new Microsoft definition of a UMPC and how the OQO is one now, but then again without Vista it isn't really. We also talked about the failed Zune squirting and why I am back to using my Yahoo! Music subscription service. We even have a freeware of the show that presents Google Reader in a slimmed down way for reading on a UMPC or other mobile device.
