Matthew Miller started using mobile devices in 1997 and has been writing news, reviews, and opinion pieces ever since. Matthew started using mobile devices with a US Robotics Pilot 1000 and has owned hundreds of devices running Palm, Linux,… Symbian, Newton, BlackBerry, iOS, Android, webOS, Windows Mobile, and Windows Phone operating systems. His current collection includes the latest and greatest foldables, wearables, and more, along with classic devices like the Apple Newton MessagePad 2100 and Sony CLIE UX50. Matthew can be found on various social networks under the user name of "palmsolo."

Matthew is a professional naval architect by day and a mobile gadgeteer at all other times. He purchases his own devices and then sells them on Swappa to buy more. Many other devices are sent for review on a typical 30-day or long-term loan basis and then returned to the carrier or manufacturer.

Review: Aerovation Checkpoint Friendly Laptop bag simplifies security process

If you read my post on "checkpoint friendly" bags back in July you may be wondering what is going on with this program. Starting on 16 August, the TSA announced they were ready allow compliant "checkpoint friendly" bags through the X-ray machines while remaining in the bags. The TSA always has the option to check any back going through the machines, but this new program should help in many cases. I was sent an evaluation bag from Aerovation and then made a trip to Singapore in late August that served as a perfect test trip for the bag and I am happy to report it made it through the system just as intended. TouchDown provides push email for the T-Mobile G1 Android device

I've written about TouchDown for the Google Android a couple of times (here and here) and as I have said in those posts it gets better and better on a regular basis. I have been using beta versions and the latest available beta supports PUSH email, ability to send attachments, device-local drafts, and more. The folks at NitroDesk, Inc. were able to sign a licensing agreement with Microsoft to support direct push capability through Exchange ActiveSync. I think this is one of the first products for the G1 that provides this functionality, even though a couple others are working on it as well.

Google tried selling their first Nexus device online, but it didn't do that well at $529. They are now trying again with the Galaxy Nexus at just $399 with no contract and an excellent ICS experience.

BlackBerry Dev Alpha device and BB World demos show RIM isn't out of the game yet

RIM needs to do something soon and if we see them launch BB OS 10 this year with hardware similar to the Dev Alpha device then I think they are still in the game and may even take the third spot behind iOS and Android.
