Apple has finally found its toehold in the enterprise with iPhone. The only question is much of the rest of the Apple bandwagon gets dragged into the big business maw. I have to say, using Keynote to whip out a preso I'm giving this morning saved my butt. Trying to do it in Powerpoint would have made me miss the point.

This is not shaping up to be the kind of experience I've come to know from Apple. Why wouldn't FileVault configurations -- on or off -- have been tested before releasing this already late Leopard debut?
From where I sat watching the demo, an Apple-Sybase solution to satisfy those who want to add the iPhone to other sanctioned corporate mobile clients is a no-brainer. This is a development to keep an eye on, and may bring iPhone to an influential class of business user sooner than most thought possible.
Will 2007 will be year of true convergence between software companies, device makers, and network providers to get me "it"? Will we see any evidence of "it" at CES or Macworld? No, because to get "it" requires the constituent provider companies to relate to their partners much differently. So far they all seem to want to keep as much of "it" as they can, to no one's full solution offering.

I see Microsoft stuck between an Apple and a Google place -- at least as far as business models and growth opportunities go.
If Google makes this all ad-supported and for all intents and purposes free to me -- and I can start doing more of my sales and marketing outreach using Google services -- well, I'm going to be someday using my Mac Pro for just accessing Google stuff, I guess. Why pay Apple for all those .mac extras?
