In today’s press release announcing he audited attendance figures from the January 2009 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the Consumer Electronics Association tried to put a brave face on the numbers. But the reality is that they were truly terrible. Will 2010 be any better?

I'll be at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next week. In between waiting for cabs, I'll be talking with the companies who are planning to release an avalanche of gadgets and gizmos - oh, and Windows Vista will make its public debut here as well. I've narrowed down my meeting list by focusing on five technologies that are going to drive the consumer electronics market in 2007.
It was a busy week in Las Vegas and elsewhere.
I attended my first CES 29 years ago. In 2008, the technologies have changed, but I'm still covering toys for my generation. What's on my road map for CES this year? (Besides Vista, of course.) How about some technologies that actually make life simpler?
