Lance Whitney is a freelance technology writer and trainer with a background in IT. He's written for a host of sites and publications, including TechRepublic, PCMag, Macworld, AskWoody, Time, Fortune, and AARP Magazine. He spent seven years writing breaking news for CNET and six years writing a monthly column about Microsoft utilities for the late TechNet Magazine. He's written two books for Wiley & Sons - "Windows 8: Five Minutes at a Time" and "Teach Yourself Visually LinkedIn." He also teaches both online and in-person computer classes on such topics as Windows, Microsoft Office, eBay, social media, and cybersecurity. And in a past life, he worked in IT for an international company providing product management and systems support in the U.S. and abroad.
