I've been using a Slingbox since they were first launched a few years ago and have used all of the mobile clients to watch my TV content on the road. I still have my Slingbox Classic and use it on my S60 and Windows Mobile devices from time to time. Once I saw that Monsoon Multimedia had a place shifting device that supported a Nokia Internet Tablet I knew I had to give it a try. I was sent a HAVA Platinum HD to try out and have to say I was very pleased with its performance and functionality. I especially like that there are FREE mobile clients for the Nokia Internet Tablet devices, Windows Mobile devices, and S60 devices (currently in beta). I posted product photos and mobile client screenshots in my new image gallery. Read below to find out what other functionality is a part of the HAVA that I haven't seen in my Slingbox.
The iPad 2 launched yesterday and in MoTR #234 Kevin and I talked about purchase plans. I think we will see Kevin keeping his review unit, don't you?
James, Kevin, and I recorded MobileTechRoundup show #119 just before Christmas and talked about the HTC Touch Dual, usage of the HTC Advantage on the go, the WiBrain UMPC that Kevin is evaluating, the Dell Latitude Tablet PC, and the OS 2008 update for the Nokia N800. We had a couple pieces of freeware we talked about as well that you may want to try out. We'll have one more show before we try to record again at CES in Vegas in January so stay tuned for that final 2007 episode.
I just recently purchased a super compact Fujitsu U810 UMPC (my review is under development right now) because my personal gadget budget had a cap of US$1000. However, for those of you in the enterprise looking for a serious road warrior device that is high portable and has everything, but the kitchen sink then you may want to check out the newly announced Lenovo X300 notbeook that is the thinnest and lightest ThinkPad ever.
Kevin and I talk a lot about our personal choices and in this week's show you will hear about a few moves I made in regards to my smartphones and many other mobile musings.
In less than two hours we will hear what Apple has to say about iOS and Mac OS, but while you are waiting you can listen to MobileTechRoundup show #271 to hear what Kevin and I think will be revealed today
Motorola continues to update the MOTOACTV device, turning it into an even better smart watch. There are updates coming soon for Galaxy S II owners and Flipboard can be downloaded now for Android owners.
