Review: The sleek black Nokia N82 with Xenon lens lights up the night

Review: The sleek black Nokia N82 with Xenon lens lights up the night

I was quite happy to upgrade my Nokia N95-3 with the firmware update that made my device a much better performer. A couple of days before I was able to upgrade my N95-3, I was sent a Nokia N82 to evaluate through the Nseries Blogger Relations program. After opening up the package and seeing that it was not a U.S. model with support for our 3G networks, I was actually about ready to send it back so someone else could evaluate it. I then chatted with Jonathan Greene and he told me to take another look at it and pay attention to the auto-rotation, flush screen, and tweaks to the OS in comparison to the N95. I took his advice and decided to pop in my T-Mobile SIM and give it an honest try. It is now almost three weeks later and my T-Mobile SIM has barely left the N82. Check out my image gallery and thoughts to see why this device is a compelling S60 multimedia computer.

Will we see a Nokia Aseries (Android series) or Android Tablet device in September?

Will we see a Nokia Aseries (Android series) or Android Tablet device in September?

I admit to being a fan of Nokia devices, but think there are several areas of the S60 Symbian-based operating system that need improvement. I am also quite a fan of Google Android, especially running on my T-Mobile G1. The Guardian is reporting the Nokia will be announcing an Android smartphone at Nokia World in September. The Guardian does not list any source for this rumor, other than industry insiders, so I am not taking this possibility as fact yet. However, I do think it would be interesting to see a Nokia ASeries (Android series) or Nokia Android Tablet class of devices with Nokia's outstanding hardware and Android's powerful and user friendly operating system.

Hands on: 32GB Zune HD walk around and first impressions

Hands on: 32GB Zune HD walk around and first impressions

The Zune HD is now available online and in retail locations throughout the US. I received the platinum one from Amazon before I saw the Zune Original with FC Sounders etching that I ordered yesterday. I will be sending back this silver model and taking a deeper look at my blue Zune Original next week if it ships as planned. I've now spent several hours with the Zune HD and took several photos of the device and software that you can check out in my image gallery, along with a video walk around the device. There will be a couple of follow-up articles looking at the web browser and apps as well. Check out some of my initial thoughts to see if I am pleased with my $300 purchase and if the Zune HD is something you might want to consider.
