According to IDC, the massive rollout of multifunction peripherals (MFPs) in Q3 2004 has resulted in a fall in single-function printer shipments. 4 mln units of single-function printers were shipped in Asia/Pacific in Q3 2004, representing an 8% sequential decline and 4% YTY decline.
IDC claims Australian printer market shipped 470,000 units in Q2 2004, which was a 9% QTQ increase. It included inkjet single function and multifunction (MFP) printers, single function laser and serial dot matrix (SDM) printers.
Although HP's share of the US color printer market slipped last year, according to IDC, it's still 47.1%.
The number of printers shipped in 2005 rose to 21.4 mln units from 18.
