Adobe is getting into the brick-and-mortar shop business...at least for the next two weeks with a pop-up store in San Francisco.
“Photoshop & You” will be open for a limited time between July 23 – August 6 at 550 Sutter Street. More than serving as just a store, this boutique will be hosting tutorials for all of Adobe's software programs during its temporary stay.
Photo enthusiasts of all skill levels are welcome to come check out the store to meet with other photographers and members of the Adobe Photoshop teams.
There are some items available for sale, mostly consisting of photography-related books, copies of Adobe's Creative Suite software (of course), as well as some other knick-knacks such as t-shirts and mouse pads with photographs printed on them.
While this store is testing the waters for future possible retail locations, Adobe's intention with the pop-up shop is primarily advertising for CS and the overall Adobe brand at this point.
A few decorative touches around the store range from these old-school, retro cameras (all brought in by members of Adobe's staff for this shop)....
...to an uber-modern look with various photos edited in Photoshop and other CS programs displayed on iPads.
As seen here and elsewhere within the pop-up shop on larger displays, the Photoshop & You store resembles almost resembles an art gallery rather than a tech store.
Adobe showed off its 3D side with this glasses-free display picturing 3D-HD autostereoscopic viewing. Too bad this photo can't capture the full 3D effect. You'll just have to go to the store and see for yourself.
To celebrate the opening, Adobe threw a grand opening "housewarming party" for local media and photo aficionados this past weekend complete with a live band and Adobe staff on hand to discuss Creative Suite and the photos on display.
Visitors can also stop by to print their own photos on posters, t-shirts and more products. During the grand opening, guests were treated to a free photo shoot.
