It wasn't a very big box, but it was heavier than I expected.

Amazon doesn't protect its own products from shipping damage all that much more than products it resells. The Echo box was in the outer box and protected by three air balloons (on the top) and nothing on the bottom or sides. It arrived unscathed, however.

There it is. A black box in a clear bag.

The inner box (also completely black) comes inside a slide-off cardboard tube.

This took a second to discover. The box only opens on one side.

Here it is again. There's a small accessory box along side.

Echo comes with a remote control, a power puck, and some batteries.

There's also a small instruction guide and some weird semi-circle magnetic thing that somehow is supposed to hold the remote. Eh.

Finally, the main event. Here's the Echo and you can see its size in contrast to my glasses.

Here's the Echo from the top. That's a mute button.

And here's the bottom view, where you plug in the power cord.

Enjoy your Echo. And stay tuned. I'll have my comments and some tips and tricks (and hopefully hacks) in upcoming articles.
