1. WebSharing File/Media Sync
There are plenty of utilities for moving files between phone and computer, but this one scores highly. Working over Wi-Fi, WebSharing File/Media Sync has the usual web interface to drag and drop targets, but it also has streaming for media files and WebDAV, which lets you mount your phone under Windows as a normal drive. Lite version is free on Android; full version is £1.81.

2. NewsRob
NewsRob is an RSS/Atom newsreader with excellent off-line capabilities and a particularly good user interface. With full control over sync, Google Reader integration and the ability to fetch a variety of programmable content during sync, it keeps a well-stocked library of news on your phone for those times when you're out of signal range or have a few moments to catch up.

3. Cloud Print
Working with Google Cloud Print, this app links any printer your PC knows about to your Google account, and lets you print documents from your phone wherever you are. Works from specific apps such as SMS and Mail, and from apps, like the browser, that support Android's Share feature. Still in beta, but it's reliable and the developer is responsive.

5. Antikythera Simulator
Run a simulation of the world's oldest computer on your Android. The Antikythera mechanism is a clockwork orbital predictor used for astronomical measurements, dating from around 150BCE.This is an interactive 3D OpenGLES simulation with two models to choose from; you can't actually use it to predict eclipses, though.
