Asus has announced the UK release of its latest netbook, the Eee PC 1008HA Seashell.
The 10-inch-screened subnotebook is an inch thick at its thickest point, and weighs 1.1kg. It comes preloaded with Windows XP.
The 1008HA is named the Seashell because of its slightly curved casing, which Asus has described as "pearlescent".
According to Asus, the battery life of the device can extend as far as six hours. This falls short of the battery life of the recently released Eee PC 1000HE, which can deliver up to eight hours of usage. The 1000HE is, however, noticeably thicker than the Seashell.
The Seashell netbook has a keyboard that is 92 percent the size of a standard notebook keyboard.
The internals of the machine are fairly typical for current netbooks: an Intel Atom N280 processor, a gigabyte of RAM and a 160GB hard drive. Asus also provides 10GB of online storage with each of its netbooks.
Wireless connectivity options include 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The Eee PC 1008HA will go on sale in the UK on 15 May, at a recommended retail price of £379.
