Map It! Lite

Map It! Lite aims to give you a one stop solution for your travel. It locates businesses and gives contact information in your location, with directions to the destination and alternative routing if necessary. It tracks traffic weather and adds tagged photos with overlays to the map.

Street view gives you a visual aspect to your destination. There are other alternative views such as Earth, terrain, roadmap and satellite view which are all zoomable and draggable.

You can add pushpins to the maps— and print them out for reference.

Cost: Free - and there are no ads either.

My Trips enables you to take your TripIt.com plans with you and work on them offline. This companion app to TripIt.com shows you travel information, upcoming trips, flight, train bookings, lodging, car rental and passenger information.

If you use TripIt Pro you can also get real time flight and gate status. It also includes a Live Tile to keep you up to date on your next flight. Your trips and data are synced for offline access and shared with others if you require.

Trip data is stored in Microsoft Azure cloud servers for anywhere access. Expense reports, receipts and bills can be viewed using Excel and emailed.

Mileage Log Pro is an app for the traveller who wants to track driving mileage across different journeys and dates. It displays total business and personal mileage for each month with a dashboard to see how close to your mileage goal you are.

You can set a range of categories across different cars and regular trips, view graphs of your daily distance and your distance by drive. Previous entries are easy to access and each trip includes detailed breakdowns

The SpeechTrans Translator app uses Nuance voice recognition software to translate your language to 34 languages including Danish, Korean and Turkish. You can paste text into the app to be read aloud in other languages and dictate the phrases you would like to have spoken.

The voice translation in the app is responsive and the output is clear and recognisable. You can use the app to dictate status updates to Twitter and Facebook, set reminders and send emails.

This offline app has phrases in 22 languages across 31 themes such as greetings food, hotels, relaxing and general expressions.

The range of themes cover typical situations which you may encounter while travelling. Each language has about 600 sentences and 770 unique words. If you want to hear the phrases spoken aloud then you can purchase add on modules for each language you need.

The add on modules contain 30 minutes of audio recordings.

You receive activity notifications to enable you to adjust to the time zone at your destination. You are advised when to get exposure to outdoor light, food, sleep, exercise and even when to take optional melatonin supplements. Live tiles show you your current jet lag advice.
