The lock screen is turned on by a simply swipe up from the bottom or a press of the power/lock button. It's quick and easy to unlock without touching a hardware button. As you can see, notifications are shown, the camera can be easily launched, and other information is available.
When you swipe down from the top on the home screen you get access to common wireless toggles, the alarm, and settings.
Similar to iOS and Android, the applications you install appear on an application launcher display before you customize the user interface.
You can keep on installing apps and expanding the launcher screen. Note the icons below the apps that let you quickly jump to other screens.
You can drag and drop application shortcuts around the display and even create folders to hold common apps.
Screenshots can be taken by pressing and holding the volume up and down button at the same time. You can then view screenshots in the photo gallery.
You can have eight apps running at once and then swiping up takes you back to this home screen. These active tiles change in the thumbnail view and let you quickly jump between the running apps.
Last year RIM, now BlackBerry, purchased DataViz and we now see the full version of Documents To Go in BlackBerry 10. You can view and edit PowerPoint files like this one that is included as a demonstration.
I am a fan of Evernote so was very excited to see BlackBerry integrate the service right into the new OS. With Remember you can sync notes (containing images, audio, and more) with Evernote or even to Outlook if you want.
Modern mobile operating systems integrate services and as you can see here BlackBerry 10 fully supports a number of services out of the box.
The BlackBerry 10 web browser is extremely fast and web pages look great in portrait and landscape orientation.
The first night I had the Z10, the battery nearly died while running sync services. I then learned that you can swipe down to activate the night mode where the clock changes to a dark friendly theme.
You can setup different ways to pay for apps and content in BlackBerry World. When I put my AT&T SIM card in the Z10, the option for carrier billing also appears. Credit card and PayPal accounts should be available for most users.

BlackBerry includes a photo editor, accessed from the photos application, that gives you various editing options. Styles include sixties, grain, age photo, filmstrip, halftone, and cartoon. These style tools help you have a bit of fun with your photos.
You can use your own photos or images included on your device to customize the wallpaper.
BlackBerry has worked hard to get developers on board with their new platform. Unfortunately, BlackBerry World is still populated with a bunch of miscellaneous items such as single books that really shouldn't count as applications.
Advanced account setup includes support for multiple Exchange accounts, Gmail, Hotmail, IMAP, and more.
You can create Word documents using the integrated Documents To Go application.
Up to eight applications can be running at the same time on BlackBerry 10.

Similar to what you see on Android, BlackBerry 10 gives you the ability to share content via a number of different services.
There is a Featured section in BlackBerry World, but as you can see there are currently only a couple of AT&T apps. The BlackBerry Z10 doesn't launch on AT&T until next month so we may see more AT&T specific apps at that time.
