In 2011, Motorola released the first Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) tablet, the Motorola Xoom. Since then, a wave of thinner, lighter, and more powerful Android devices has swept across the tablet market.

In December, Motorola revamped its tablet lineup with the Xyboard 10.1 and smaller Xyboard 8.2. Following along as I crack open the Xyboard 10.1 for a look at the hardware inside.

The Motorola Xyboard 10.1 is available through Verizon for $529 (16GB), $629 (32GB), and $729 (64GB), with a two-year contract for a 4G data plan. Monthly plans start at $30 for 2GB of data.

You can purchase the Xyboard without a data plan, but doing so raises the price by $170. Our 16GB Xyboard 10.1 test unit cost $699 (plus tax).
