Eight handy apps for the Pebble smartwatch (gallery)

The Pebble Steel smartwatch is now shipping and the Pebble appstore is available for iOS owners. You can load up to eight apps at one time so I posted the following gallery of eight apps I like so far.

Smartwatch+ is the most popular Pebble app

I took a look at the new Pebble appstore last week and at the beginning of this week it officially launched for iOS devices. You can load up to eight apps or watchfaces onto your Pebble and so I thought I would put together of a gallery of eight apps I found particularly appealing.

In addition to the new iOS version of the Pebble appstore,, the Pebble Steel is also now shipping to early buyers. ZDNet’s Jason O’Grady is a Pebble user like me and posted his first look at the new smartwatch. I haven’t seen a Pebble Steel in person yet, but the more useful the appstore becomes the more likely I am to pick up a Pebble Steel.

Take a look through my short gallery and if you have any other app suggestions, please leave a comment and I will go check them out.

Smartwatch +

Jason wrote up a nice review of Smartwatch +. I like using it for weather updates, camera control, and playing a sound to find my iPhone.

Package Trackr

I have a habit of buying lots of mobile devices so having the ability to easily track packages on my Pebble is pretty slick.

RunKeeper

This companion app solved one of my major problems running with my iPhone. I can now leave my iPhone strapped on my arm and check my running status right on the Pebble.

PebbGPS

I haven't had much time to test out this app, but like the idea of having directions appear right on my Pebble. There is a 99 cents charge for the iPhone companion app.

Yelp

The Yelp app is one of the more helpful apps I have tried so far and appears to be one of the most full featured.
