    The iPhone 6

The iPhone 6 measures in at 4.7 inches and the iPhone 6 Plus comes in at 5.5 inches, bringing Apple's smartphone into the realm of larger screen sizes. This may be a way to compete against the wide range of Android-powered devices which are equipped with an array of larger screen sizes — something Apple smartphones have so far lacked.

A new gesture for the new iPhones is called Reachability, a feature of iOS 8 -- which also includes Apple's HealthKit and HomeKit. If you touch the TouchID button twice, the whole display slides down so you can reach anything at the top.

    Faster and better

Apple says graphics loading will be 84 times faster than the original iPhone thanks to the 64-bit Apple A8 chip — containing 2 billion transistors, double that of the first-generation A7 chip — and the devices are up to 50 percent more energy efficient.

  • What about fitness?

    What about fitness?

As expected, the latest batch of iPhones is related to iOS 8 and a focus on health. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are equipped with a barometer that senses air pressure to measure relative elevation, and an M8 coprocessor continuously measures motion data from the accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass. These can be used in relation to fitness tracking, and allow the iPhone to detect if you're "going up molehills, mountains, and everything in between."
