    There's a new e-book reader on the block called the Nook from Barnes & Noble. It has some extra assets like a color touchscreen and e-book lending abilities and will run on Google's Android.

    Amazon should be credited with starting the interest in e-books with its Kindle series e-readers - now numbering three. The newest Kindle has a 6-inch screen and offers 3G wireless in both the U.S. and Europe. It's new price is $279.

    Sony promises to be a major e-book player by recently adding two new e-readers to its library - a pocket version and one that features a touch screen. Sony also offers access to Google's public domain library. This means that Sony e-readers will have access to over a million books.

    The The Reader Pocket Edition will sell for $199 and the Reader Touch Edition will sell for $299, and the 7-inch model has a price tag of for $399.

    Alex pops up from Spring Design. Its Android-based, dual-screen ebook e-reader comes with a 6-inch display. It's promised to hit the market by the end of 2009 although no price has been set.

    Plastic Logic is slowly releasing details of its Que e-reader which is supposed to make its official debut at CES on January 7, 2010.

    The device will have a letter-sized (8.5″ x 11″), “shatterproof” capacitive touchscreen and will support PDF, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel documents.

    Bookeen's latest model is the Cybook Opus which weighs just 5.3 ounces and is 6-inches high with a 5-inch screen. The screen position can switch from portrait to landscape mode automatically. It costs $250.

    Elonex UK makes a 6-inch Ebook Reader that benefits from the availability of 45,000 titles via a partnership with Borders UK. The Elonex eBook can hold up to 8,000 e-books and allows you to change the font size.

    The Elonex eBook is priced at £189 and includes 100 free eBooks.
