Microsoft says that the new Internet Explorer 8 browser, available for download on Thursday, is faster, more secure, and easier to use. It also adds a new private browsing feature.

Here is a quick tour of some of the more interesting changes from IE7. Mary Jo Foley provides coverage of the unveiling ceremony from Mix '09.

With Web slice, you can keep up with frequently updated sites through the new Favorites bar. When a site that you are tracking updates, a green icon will appear in the upper-right corner of your browser.
