Image: Digital maps and the road not taken

Despite the relative immediacy of information on the Web, digital maps aren't always up to date.

This Yahoo map, accessed on Nov. 4, 2005, still shows San Francisco's Central Freeway ending near South Van Ness Avenue as the result of a construction project. That project, which called for the freeway to end at Market Street (right about where the red star appears), was completed in mid-September, when the new exit officially opened. A Nov. 4 Google map also showed the freeway ending near Van Ness.
