Image Gallery: First look at the Sony Reader Touch Edition PRS-600
Sony recently announced a couple new Reader eink electronic books, the Sony Reader Pocket Edition and Touch Edition that are both now available. The Daily Edition is coming in a couple of months and will be a bit larger with wireless capability. The Touch Edition is the same size as the PRS-505, but adds a touchscreen display with integrated dictionary and note taking capability.
The back lists a few key features of the device.
There is an outer slip case around the Reader to keep it protected during shipping.
Here you can see the Reader Touch Edition packed on the right side.
The front is dominated by the display.
The back is covered in soft touch material.
As you can see the 505 is the same size as the 600, with more functionality.
There are five navigational buttons on the bottom below the display.
Option and zoom buttons.
Back, forward, and home buttons.
The bottoms are about the same with power jack, headset jack, volume button and miniUSB port.
Two memory card slots are available so you can store a ton of books. The slider power button is also present here.
A rather long metal stylus is used on the 600.
There is a stylus, but your fingernail works just as well for most cases.
There is a black slipcase, USB cable, and Quick Start Guide.
The 505 has the clearest display.
The clarity is amazingly clear for a second level display change.
