You can slide the large clock up to reveal calendar appointments and other notifications with the swipe of your finger.

The Personal tab is where you can place your speed dial contacts. You can quickly browse through them with a finger scroll and dial right from this tab.

This is the typical display that appears during a call that lets you manage the call. You can start a note, switch to speaker mode, and much more in this view.

Here is where you will find your text and multimedia messages. They appear with the most recent on top and then you can swipe your finger up and down to read others. Tapping on the message will open up the Messaging application in Windows Mobile.

The Mail tab will show you your email in a cool animation. The sender, subject and text of your actual messages appears in the envelope icon and they change dynamically. You can compose a message with a quick tap on the icon and also scroll through your messages. You cannot delete them from this tab though.

The Internet tab lets you launch the default browser (Opera Mobile 9.5), launch the YouTube application, or quickly go to your selected Bookmark.

Your Bookmarks appear on the Internet tab too so you can quickly jump to them right from the Home screen.

In this tab you can quickly view thumbnails of your photos and videos by swiping your finger up or down the display. Tapping on the camera or camcorder icon will launch the camera application so you can shoot still or video footage. You can also quickly launch a Slideshow or view Albums from this tab.

On the Music tab you will see your album art and then you can play your music. The length of the song and your place in that song appear under the album art. You can quickly scroll through your music by flicking your finger up and down through the album art.

The Weather tab is probably my favorite fun tab since the animations are very cool and the information looks superb in VGA. If it is raining, then a wiper goes across your display to clean it (check out my video to see this).

You can view the 5-day forecast that includes a graphical image of the condition and highs and lows for the day.

On this tab you can control synchronization, sound profiles, wallpaper, communications manager, and weather data downloads.

It is great to see a simple profile manager on a touch screen Windows Mobile device and it is pretty straightforward to use on the Touch Diamond.

There are several preloaded wallpaper images to choose from, but you can always add your own custom one as well.

The Communications Manager has been updated with a new look and easy to view status icons. You can control all of your wireless connections from this display.

The final tab is the Programs tab where you can select up to 18 shortcuts to your favorite applications.

After selecting the + from the Program tab you can select from any of your loaded applications.

The camera application main display seen on HTC devices has been greatly simplified and made much more functional and useful, IMHO.

Here are some basic camera options available when you tap the right menu icon. The video options are very similar to the still options.

205007.jpg

There are 5 screens of advanced camera options (4 for video). Here you can set the review duration, quality, capture format (not changeable from what I can find), and time stamp toggle.

205008.jpg

You can select the storage location, backlight toggle, shutter toggle (big one for many people), and shooting options.

You can select how photos are taken with these settings. You need to touch and/or press the directional pad to take a photo or record video.

Image properties (contrast, saturation, sharpness) can be set on this tab. You can select any effect you want, from none, grayscale, sepia, or negative. Metering mode (center area or average) and prefix toggle (default, date, or date & time) can be set here as well.

The counter can be managed and reset in this tab. Flicker adjustment and the grid can be toggled too. Help can be found here in case you need more details on the settings.

On tab 5/5 is the About info.

You can open up a MP3 file and then use the edit bars to crop the area you want to use as a ringtone right on the device.

You can save and use the clipped MP3 file as your ringtone and control other settings. It is very handy to be able to manage and customize ringtones right on your device.

I was pleased to see that HTC included a FM radio application since I am a fan of the radio. Here you can see the main display of the application.

204982.jpg

There are menu options with most also available right on the main display as large touchable buttons so you don't need the menu for most options.

While you do need to have the headset plugged in, since it acts as the FM radio antenna, you can also select to play the music over the integrated speaker instead of the headset.

204985.jpg

You can select a time for the radio to play before shutting down in case you like to listen as you fall asleep.

204986.jpg

You can select stations as presets so you can quickly jump to your favorite stations when listening to the radio.

This is the main display of the YouTube application on the Touch Diamond. You can browse feature, most viewed, and more here. You can also save bookmarks, view your history, and search the entire YouTube library for videos to enjoy.

When playing the application switches into landscape mode and gives you some controls over the playback.

The screenshot application didn't capture the menus, but you get the idea.

There is no mobile version here as you are allowed to view the full internet, for the most part, with Opera Mobile 9.5.

204992.jpg

Turning the device to the side rotates the display in Opera Mobile 9.5 (and in the Photos and Videos application) so you can choose how to view the internet.

Here you can see the different menu options available to you.

You are limited to viewing 3 tabs in Opera Mobile 9.5, but that is better than Internet Explorer Mobile.

204996.jpg

The only change in Internet Explorer Mobile is the ability to zoom out on a page to see the entire page. The major update will be coming later this year.

204997.jpg

As you can see my site defaults to the mobile version in Internet Explorer Mobile. This is good for fast viewing, but not when I want to access more of the internet.

Here you can see the hardware specs on the device, including the processor, memory available, and display resolution.

I LOVE the disk mode that lets me access and use the 4GB flash drive with my Mac and no other application/utility on the Mac.
