Image Gallery: M-Edge Prodigy and Platform Jacket cases for the Amazon Kindle 2

The Amazon Kindle 2 is now available, however no case ships with the device like what Amazon provided with the Kindle 1. You therefore need to buy a case through Amazon or another 3rd party. M-Edge creates some of the best Kindle cases, that also work with their lighting solution to protect your Kindle and make it quite fashionable.

The Kindle 2 fits nicely in the Prodigy case in my hand. The case does add some bulk and thickness, but it also does a good job of protecting your Kindle 2. The front cover is reinforced to protect the display and front of the Kindle.

Here you can see the Pebbled Gray of the Prodigy that shows the black strap.

The M-Edge logo is pressed into the lower back of the M-edge case.

A leather black strap starts from the back and wraps around to the front to secure the Kindle in the case. Here you can also see the detail of the quality stitching of the case.

The leather strap inserts into an opening across the front of the case approximately 3 inches so it securely holds the case shut.

Opening up the inside of the Prodigy case reveals the securing mechanism on the right side and pockets on the left.

There are some pockets on the left side for business cards and other papers that you may want to carry in the case.

There are two hooks in the spine of the case that fit into the two openings in the back of the Kindle 2.

The upper securing hook slides up and down to fit into the opening in the back of the Kindle 2.

The bottom hook is stationary and angled to slide into the back opening. You first insert this hook into your Kindle 2 and then slide it up and into position.

The spine hooks hold it securely, but there are two right side loops for added security.

The underside of the flap is soft material.

The upper hook rests in the upper position until you slide it down and then back into place.

The upper hook is now slid into position and securely holds the Kindle 2 in place.

The existing e-Luminator book light fits into the new M-edge cases. I understand that new light are being released too.

The M-Edge Platform Jacket opens up in portrait mode up over the top rather than in a book mode to the side.

The Platform Jacket also comes in Pebbled Gray leather with black strap.

The strap comes from the lower back and wraps around the bottom to secure case through an opening in the front.

There are securing loops on the bottom that are rather large and made of leather.

The two top loops are made with elastic and leather to hold the top of the Kindle 2.

The upper part is rigid so it provides good protection for your Kindle 2. There are also a couple of slim pockets, including one that runs the entire length of the top.

You can see the openings for the pockets here on the left of the upper part of the case.

The Kindle 2 appears in the case similar to how the Executive Jacket fits the case.

The Platform Jacket can be used to stand on its own in case you want to experience a hands-free reading scenario. The flap on the bottom can actually be reinserted into the opening to hold the top flap adjacent to the lower portion holding the Kindle 2.
