Apple touch-screen patent

This drawing, contained in a patent application filed by Apple Computer, appears to show a touch-screen keyboard that could be used to enter data on a UMPC-like device.

Microsoft has its own UMPC, or minitablet, project, called "Origami."

Origami keyboart

Microsoft's Origami project plans to use a similar-looking QWERTY keyboard, but its design splits that keyboard into separate halves on either side of the screen.
