InvisibleShield Glass for the iPhone 6 Plus hands-on: Display protection without compromise

ZAGG InvisibleShield Glass for the iPhone 6 Plus

Most smartphones today are built with scratch-resistant, toughened glass. Even with advanced glass technology, we see broken iPhones all the time and the glass display is one of the weak points of modern slabs.

While glass displays may be scratch-resistant, I still like putting a screen protector on for added protection and to keep my devices pristine so I can get the most value when I sell them and buy the latest and greatest. I have used InvisibleShield screen protectors for years and today there are three different types available for the Apple iPhone 6 Plus.

I recently installed the new ZAGG InvisibleShield Glass on my large 5.5 inch display. This new Glass screen protector is available for $34.99 and comes in a case friendly option. This means the screen protector doesn't go all the way to the edges so you can still place your iPhone 6 Plus in a case, which everyone seems to do.

The InvisibleShield Glass protector is made of fortified tempered glass that is only 0.4mm thick. This means it provides scratch resistance, clarity, and responsiveness that will not impact your iPhone experience in any way. It has a hardness of 9H.

The layers of the ZAGG InvisibleShield Glass include an oil-resistant nano-coating, scratch-resistant tempered glass, screen protection layer, and adhesive layer. The coating makes it very easy to keep the screen clean, which is important to me with the large 5.5 inch display that rests against my face during calls.

I was worried about screwing up the installation, but it was a breeze. I followed the six steps in the retail package, including wiping the display with the wet wipe and microfiber cloth. Lining up the protector was easy and I ended up with no bubbles or anything to work out after installation.

This model screen protector extends to a couple mm below and above the top and bottom of the edge with slightly wider gaps at the two sides. It is pretty amazing to use my iPhone 6 Plus with the screen protector on since nothing is compromised and I keep forgetting there is even a protector in place. It is easier to keep the display clean with the InvisibleShield Glass in place than when I was using my iPhone 6 Plus without the protector.

The TouchID button is not covered so it works as it should. The front facing camera is covered, but photos still look the same as if the InvisibleShield Glass was not there.

I did not intentionally drop my iPhone 6 Plus to test out how well it works to protect your display, but it is designed to take the force and break before your actual display does. ZAGG also has an HDX plastic product, priced $10 less, that provides three times more shatter protection than your Apple display. I personally baby my devices and want protection that doesn't compromise the screen sensitivity or clarity in any way so went with the Glass protection.

ZAGG is so confident in the InvisibleShield Glass that it offers a lifetime guaranteed warrantee so if it ever gets worn or damaged while you own the phone ZAGG will replace it for you.
