Lenovo rolls out new Ideatab Android tablets and teases Yoga 13 yet again

Lenovo's tablet line-up has expanded somewhat at IFA 2012, with the manufacturer showing off three new Android tablets and re-revealing the Yoga 13 Windows 8 convertible.

All the new tablets will ship with Android 'Ice Cream Sandwich' 4.0, rather than the new 'Jelly Bean' 4.1.

The top spot in Lenovo's new Android tablet range is arguably taken by the Ideatab S2110A, which comes with an optional detachable keyboard.

The 10-inch tablet weighs 580g (without the keyboard) and is 8.69mm thick. With the keyboard attached, it can apparently provide up to 20 hours of battery life – without the keyboard, that time is roughly halved.

The keyboard also adds an SD card reader and USB ports to the mix.

The S2110A's processor is a dual-core, 1.5GHz affair with 1GB of memory. The rear-facing camera has a five-megapixel resolution and the forward-facing camera 1.3 megapixels.

The tablet is apparently available now in the US, although European availability and pricing is yet to be announced.

For those who like the tablet-keyboard combo but want Windows 8 rather than Android, Lenovo also has the Yoga 13. Or at least, it will have it at some point - having shown a prototype all the way back at CES in January, the company provided no new details at IFA.

What we do know is that it is 16.9mm thick and weighs 1.4kg. It can handle 10-finger multitouch on its 13.3-inch screen, and can be configured with Intel processors all the way up to Core i7.

    Lenovo's Ideatab A2109A has a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor and a nine-inch screen.

As with the S2110A, the A2109A has a micro-HDMI port for high-definition output to TV sets.

It is slightly lighter than the S2110A, at 570g, but not all its specifications are better. Indeed, its main camera only has a 3-megapixel resolution.

The smallest of Lenovo's new bunch is the Ideatab A2107A, which has a seven-inch screen.

The device will find itself up against Google's Nexus 7. Without pricing, it is hard to tell how it will fare in that competition, although it does come in a 3G-capable variant as well.

According to Lenovo, both the A2107A and A2109A benefit from "the same metal alloy roll cage inspired by Lenovo ThinkPad products".

It may be said that the phrases "the same" and "inspired by" are not easily reconciled with one another.
