Office Mix is a hybrid service comprising a cloud-based lesson distribution platform and a PowerPoint authoring plug-in.
Once the plug-in is installed, Office Mix adds a new tab to the PowerPoint ribbon.
Use the screenshot button to add screenshots from your PC libraries, or quickly grab a fresh one.
Office Mix also includes tools for making movies of screens. Click record, and talk your class through what you're doing. You can even clip screen areas.
Plug-ins let you add interactive elements, from quizzes and freeform questions, to content from online educational resources like Khan Academy.
Add quizzes to your lessons by creating new PowerPoint pages and dropping in the quiz module. You can fill in questions and answers, with analytics handled by the Office Mix service.
Once you've created a lesson, you'll process it into a Mix and upload it to your Office Mix gallery.
You have the option to also create a video of your lesson for offline or mobile use. This can take some time, but it expands the reach of your lessons. Note that quizzes can't be included in lesson movies.
The heart of Mix is its recording studio. Once you've designed your lesson in PowerPoint, you can click the Mix record button and create a voiceover and a video narration.
Office Mix's analytics show you how long students spend with each slide, and how they respond to your questions. You can use these to ensure all your students complete a lesson, or to fine-tune your lessons.
Sharing Office Mix lessons is easy. You can share to a limited group of people, or to anyone who has access to Mix, or to the entire internet.
