Oracle OpenWorld 2012: A photographic experience

"Engineered" hardware and software is an important part of Oracle's strategy today. This strategy puts Oracle on a collision course with SAP's HANA appliance.

Monday night included a concert by the musical group Candelaria, which was the opening act for Jimmy Cliff. The location was Yerba Buena Gardens, a lovely spot behind Moscone Center.

The Reggae legend performed in Yerba Buena Gardens at the Oracle Music Festival.

The UK singer performed in San Francisco's Union Square, as part of the Oracle Music Festival. She was excellent. 

In the shadow the tall sailing ship, America, San Francisco's Treasure Island served as setting for an evening concert with Pearl Jam.

Mr. Deal Architect, Vinnie Mirchandani, and I spent quite a bit of time together at Open World, so it's only fitting that his photo be included here. Vinnie is a gentleman, as I hope this photo shows.

Oracle Senior Vice President of Applications Development, Chris Leone, spoke with bloggers and analysts about Oracle Fusion Tap for the iPad. The small group setting enabled a healthy discussion of the product, including technical details and overall mobile strategy.

Exadata hardware played a central role in the "show and tell" area located outside the main keynote hall in Moscone Center. Here, a customer discusses the Oracle hardware with a representative from the company.

Bicycles everywhere, especially in flat downtown, unlike the rest of San Francisco which has lots of large hills. 

I don't know his name, but this bassist was a treat to hear on a sunny and unseasonably warm fall afternoon.
