In a speech on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005, in Washington, D.C., Sen. Hillary Clinton proposed revising the nation's energy policies to reduce dependence on oil, encourage energy conservation and promote investment in alternative, energy-efficient technologies. Calling for a "strategic energy fund," the Democratic senator from New York made her remarks to venture capitalists and entrepreneurs at the Clean Tech Venture Forum, which focused on the efficient use of natural energy resources and on reducing pollution.
