EliteBook and ProBook laptops redesigned by HP...

HP says it has revamped its EliteBook and ProBook range of business laptops to make them more durable, using tougher materials and more stringent testing.

For example, the EliteBook p-series, shown above, now features an aerospace-inspired HP DuraCase that the company says meets military-standard testing specifications.

The EliteBook comes with USB 3.0 ports as well as a USB 2.0 charging port and features the option to add a long-life battery, which provides a battery life of up to 32 hours.

The EliteBook and ProBook range have also been updated with faster processors to improve performance.

The redesigned EliteBooks weigh from only 4.56lb for the 14-inch model and 6.10lb for the 15.6-inch model. Both models also feature high-definition, LED-backlit displays.

Users can choose from multiple operating systems and opt for a hard drive or a solid-state disk.

The ProBook b-series, above, now comes in a tungsten-coloured case and is available with a 13.3-inch, 14-inch and 15.6-inch screen.

HP says the durability of the laptop has also been improved with a bead-blast aluminium display enclosure and a magnesium-reinforced ABS chassis.

Other new features include a bottom-case drain that helps protect against minor accidental spills over the keyboard and an HP DisplaySafe frame designed to protect the screen.

The HP ProBook features a standard media card reader, SRS Premium Sound, a touchpad on-off button and an optional HD webcam. As with the EliteBook, all displays are high definition and LED backlit.

The HP ProBook also comes with a number of CPU options, ranging from Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 dual-core processors to an Intel Celeron chip.
