Tablet with 3D recording also on LG's menu, revealed at MWC...

Mobile maker LG has taken the wraps off what it describes as the world's first 3D smartphone. Launched at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the LG Optimus 3D, pictured above, runs Google's Android OS. The device packs a 1GHz dual-core Texas Instruments Omap 4430 chip.

The handset has a 4.3-inch WVGA autostereoscopic 3D touchscreen - so the device does not require the user to wear glasses to view the 3D.

The LG Optimus 3D also offers 3D video recording - hence the dual cameras on the back, pictured above.

The twin five-megapixel cameras are positioned 24mm apart to record at slightly different angles for the 3D effect.

LG also took the wraps off a tablet - the LG Optimus Pad, shown above, runs Google's Android 3.0, aka Honeycomb. It is powered by a 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor.

Like the LG Optimus 3D smartphone, the Optimus Pad packs dual five-megapixel cameras for 3D video recording - but the Pad does not have a 3D screen, so while 3D films can be made on the device, the 3D effect cannot be viewed on the Pad.
