Photos: The first Windows Vista computers
From HP, Medion, Sony and Toshiba
Microsoft unveiled the first new PCs and laptops designed for the Windows Vista operating system at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this week. The new computers from HP, Medion, Sony and Toshiba will run the high-end versions of Vista, which is released on general availability on 30 January.

Toshiba Portege R400
Aimed at mobile "information workers", the Portege R400 comes with the all-singing Windows Vista Ultimate edition.
It features a swivel 12.1-inch screen that turns it into a tablet, a secondary side display for real-time email and calendar notification when the laptop is closed, and an ultrawideband wireless docking unit. It also sports an 80GB hard drive.
The laptop is due to be available before the end of March 2007 and is expected to retail around the €3,000 mark.

Sony Vaio TP1
The sleek white Sony Vaio TP1 living room PC comes with Windows Vista Home Premium and is designed to be part of the home entertainment experience. It includes a matching white wireless keyboard and remote control, 2GB of RAM and a 200GB hard drive. Due out in March, it will sell for around $1,600.

HP TouchSmart IQ770 PC
Dubbed by HP as "the social hub of the home", the TouchSmart PC allows users to access emails, documents, movies and photos through touchscreen technology. The customisable SmartCenter homepage gives users one-touch access to all their quick links and the most used applications. The 19-inch touch-enabled display is integrated with the 320GB PC base and comes with a wireless keyboard and mouse.

Medion UMPC
The ultra-portable Medion UMPC has a slide-out keyboard and 6.5-inch touchscreen using Microsoft's Origami user interface. The device also features wireless connectivity, Bluetooth, onboard GPS, a DVB-T tuner and a webcam.
