Robots ring the alarm

Sanyo Electric and Tmsuk Co. have developed a glowing robot that guards your home and serves as a room decoration. When activated, the Roborior detects human movement and other abnormal conditions and sends images from its onboard camera to the owner's cell phone. It can also sound an alarm to scare off intruders. The video camera inside Roborior can be accessed and controlled remotely with a cell phone.

Inspired by the appearance of a jellyfish, the Roborior lights up in red, green or blue. It can also function as a floor light. Roborior is currently only available in Japan.

In 2003 Sanyo and Tmsuk collaborated on Banryu, a robotic "guard dragon." This robot possesses an onboard "odor-sensor" that is able to detect fires.
