Samsung's QWERTY-equipped Omnia Pro B7610 has a good feature set and should appeal to both professionals and consumers.

Samsung's Omnia Pro B7610 is a Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone that's positively brimming with features. It certainly has enough on offer to attract business users as far as specifications are concerned. The Omnia Pro B7610 costs £379.99 (inc. VAT) SIM-free.

Like most smartphone makers, Samsung puts its own skin on Microsoft's Windows Mobile interface. Samsung attempts to cater for both professionals and consumers with twin-track looks, which you can switch between using a button on the side of the device.

The consumer skin features Samsung's trademark widgets, which you can pull out from a sidebar and place on any of three screens. You flick between these screens with a sweep of the touchscreen. The professional skin only offers one home screen and has a more sober appearance, although this can also be populated with widgets.

Samsung has extended its UI tinkering further into the operating system than most, and seasoned Windows Mobile users may take a while to adjust to using this device.

Another reason the Omnia Pro B7610 will appeal to professional users is its slide-out QWERTY keyboard. This is very well made, with keys that depress comfortably beneath the fingers. We'd certainly be happy to use it for mobile email. The sliding keyboard means the Omnia Pro B7610 is on the large and heavy side at 57.8mm by 112.6mm by 15.9mm x 162.2g.

The AMOLED display measures 3.5in. across the diagonal and has a resolution of 480 by 800 pixels.

The Omnia Pro B7610 has a fast 800MHz processor, 1GB of internal memory plus a further 512MB designated as storage space. It's a quad-band GSM phone with HSDPA support for downloads at up to 3.6Mbps.

Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) is present, along with Bluetooth (2.0) and Assisted GPS. The camera at the back is a 5-megapixel unit, and if you purchase the additional cable, TV-Out is also catered for. The only obvious omission is a front-facing camera for two-way video calling.
